Asvestopoulos B2 was settled in 1950 from Ioannis Asvestopoulos. Him and his brother run the business for 35 years, till 1985, when Ioannis'son, Vasilios, took over the business and increased its performance importantly. It is a small business of less than 10 individuals. The main category of products are vegetables, but some specific types of fruits are sold, too.
Lachanagora, the central market of fruits & vegetables, was established in 1935, when Thessaloniki was completely different. The products were transferred either with boats or with trucks and they were placed into vehicles for the central market of the city. They were available for wholesaling or retailing. The buyers used carts and carriages to bring them to the street market. A whole new economy was built around Lachanagora, as people of various professional backgrounds were participating.
